Spring is finally here. The cold weather is over, and the heat is not yet intolerable.
I have always seen Spring as a time for renewal. Not only because of the growth of plants and other greenery, but to me there is a greater sense of freedom.
Psychologically, studies have shown that people’s moods tend to improve with increased sunlight. Spending time outdoors, especially in green spaces, tends to lower stress hormone levels.
Outdoor activities including hiking, bicycle riding, and gardening promote relaxation. Fresh air and mild temperatures encourage deep breathing and mindfulness.
Spring is also a time for “Spring Cleaning”. Many of us take this opportunity to get rid of the old clutter and bring in the new. I must admit that I have the intention to declutter but unfortunately, do not to the extent that I would like to.
But I am working on it.
What I have been doing is spending more time in nature.
I have discovered several nature reserves that either have trails or boardwalks. It is very enjoyable to be walking among nature and observing the different plants and animals that live in these habitats. I find this very relaxing especially as an escape from the office.
On the way, I often meet others who just love to be outdoors. Many take pictures, exercise, or just bird watch,
Every one of them has been friendly and eager to share their experiences. A bonus is the exercise you get from walking.
Consider Spring to be an opportunity, like plants, to come alive and refresh oneself and one’s mindset.
It’s a great time to clear out the clutter, both at home and in your mind.
