Last month, I took a short vacation and traveled North to Canada. Along the way, I stopped at Niagara Falls. I had not been there in over 40 years. What a breathtaking sight to see. The falls are truly majestic and one of the beauties of nature.
There are actually three falls that make up what is known as Niagara Falls. It is on the border between Canada and The United States. On the American side is Bridal Veil Falls and American Falls and on the Canadian Side is Horseshoe Falls. The Rainbow Bridge which you can walk over links both countries.
It was suggested to me to stay on the Canada side which is what I did. In my opinion, the views are much better especially of the larger Horseshoe Falls. Rainbows are everywhere as is the excitement from visitors. Everyone seem to be well behaved and there was a preponderance of families.
A walkway allowed you to walk the entire length of the falls. Getting the best observation spots was difficult because of the crowds. However, patience paid off as I was able to get some great pictures from my camera. Side attractions included a giant Ferris Wheel, a casino, a zip line, helicopter rides, and observation towers.
But the highlight of the stay for me was the boat ride into the falls. Yes, into the falls. I was not on the Maid of The Mist which is from the American side. But an equally exciting boat ride was the Niagara City Cruises. It is imperative to wear the provided poncho and even then, you get drenched.
The boat passes American Falls and goes some distance into Horseshoe Falls. It is almost impossible to take any pictures because of the wind and the mist. You can feel the power of nature and feel the rumbling of the falls while you are covered in the mist. A truly remarkable experience.
If you have never been to Niagara Falls, I suggest you put it on your list of sights to visit. You won’t be disappointed.
