3-20-2026: Enjoying Spring!

Spring has finally arrived. The chill of winter has passed, and the heat of summer hasn’t quite set in. It’s that perfect in-between season that many of us look forward to each year.

I’ve always thought of spring as a time of renewal. Beyond the blooming flowers and returning greenery, there’s a noticeable sense of openness and possibility in the air. It’s like a kind of emotional reset.

Research supports what many of us naturally feel this time of year. Increased sunlight can improve mood, while spending time outdoors, especially in green spaces, has been shown to reduce stress levels.

Activities like hiking, biking, or gardening not only encourage movement but also promote relaxation. Even something as simple as breathing in fresh air can help us slow down and become more mindful.

Self-Care

Spring is also synonymous with “spring cleaning.” It’s a chance to clear out the old and make space for the new. I’ll admit, while I have the best intentions to fully declutter, I don’t always get as far as I’d like but it’s a work in progress.

One thing I have been doing more consistently is spending time in nature. I’ve discovered several local nature reserves with beautiful trails and boardwalks. There’s something deeply calming about walking through these environments, observing the plants and wildlife, and stepping away from the pace of the office.

Along the way, I often meet others who share this appreciation for the outdoors. People are friendly, open, and eager to connect. It’s an unexpected but welcome part of the experience. And of course, the added benefit of walking is the exercise itself.

Spring offers us an opportunity, much like the plants around us, to come alive again, to refresh our perspective, and to reset. It’s a season to clear out clutter, not just in our homes, but in our minds as well.

Here in Coral Springs and across South Florida, spring offers a unique opportunity to enjoy nature before the summer heat intensifies. Local parks, nature trails, and green spaces provide an accessible way to support both physical and mental well-being.
