One of the best ways I have found to handle the stress and frustration from Covid, the war, inflation, politics, and doomsday news is to have an appropriate escape. I like to travel and seek out new experiences. Readers of this blog know that I have been to several local national parks as well as different lighthouses. Last weekend, I found a new experience in Miami.
Looking for an opportunity for this local escape, my family and I visited Zoo Miami. What a great decision! It has been years since I have been there and once you enter the zoo, the news, the war, politics, etc. all fade away.
Although the weather was hot, this was a wonderful choice. The zoo itself had many, many visitors, yet it did not feel crowded. It was very pleasurable to see many families together enjoying this experience. Everyone was well behaved and seemed to be having a good time. This was a stress-free experience with no concerns about what you hear on the news.
The parents were as excited as their children to introduce them to the animals and maybe catch a performance from them. The children were thrilled and the opportunity to feed the giraffes was a big hit as was the mini-water park.
To me, it felt like a mini-vacation. The everyday worries and concerns disappeared for at least a few hours. It was a pleasure to be around courteous, friendly, people who wanted to and did enjoy a positive family experience.
Florida seems to have many adventures if one would just look.
Zoo Miami was one of these adventures and well worth the trip.
